What is an "Ausbildung"?

The "Ausbildung" (apprenticeship) is the centerpiece of German vocational training. This dual system is unique worldwide and combines theoretical instruction in a vocational school with practical work directly in a company. You not only learn the theory, but also apply your knowledge immediately and earn your own money from day one.
